Talbot Toy Poodles has
a small select group of white and silver toy poodles. Each has been
chosen for a specific attribute that is essential to the toy poodle breed
standard as a whole. By combining these attributes, I hope to one day
have a set type, to be known as "Talbot". Genetic Health screening is a
must for a Talbot Toy Poodle prior to breeding. A happy poodle is a
healthy poodle. Talbot's toy poodles are not caged, or kept in exercise
pens. They are taught house manners and share the every day life with
me. I groom my poodles every 7 to 10 days or as needed. They enjoy Holistic
Dog Food mixed with raw. In
combination, Talbot Toy Poodles are physically and mentally sound.
How it all began...
My love for the toy poodles started back as a child. Our family enjoyed the company of our beloved pet toy poodle named "Fi Fi". She was a white toy poodle who came to us by luck. My mother's Uncle was Fi Fi's original owner and for some reason did not want or could not care for her. So, as the story goes, we were adopted by a white toy poodle.
Once I had a home of my own I began looking for a white toy poodle. I visited many places who advertised "toy poodles for sale" in the newspaper, which I now know is the worst place to buy a toy poodle puppy. I went to many homes and was disgusted by the poor conditions the toy poodles were kept, most in cages, or make shift crates, lined along the walls of what seemed like every room in the house. The smell was appalling. Others kept their breeding toy poodles outside in a so-called kennel. Those conditions were even worse.
Eventually I met a lady who had a white toy poodle puppy for sale that I did buy. She became Mimi!
At this time I was introduced to the Internet, and learned as much as I could about toy poodles and became interested in showing. I did quite a bit of research and decided I would become a breeder of quality bred toy poodles with health, structure, and temperament foremost in mind. I also vowed that I would never be like those other toy poodle breeders. My toy poodles would be loving members of my family. They will never know what wire feels like on the bottom of their feet, what it feels like to have infections on the skin from not being properly cared for, or broken jaws due to tooth decay. Well, the list goes on and on.
My toy poodles spend every minute of every day with me, sleep in their beds in my room at night, and go on outings with me. They deserve only the very best that life has to offer them.
